Fairest vy the themes of self-image, self-acceptance, and societies beauty constructs within the framework of a fairy tale setting. It didn’t fit in the traditional story, and didn’t add anything to it. The setting was good, but I rather wish there had been more description. It kept me entertained just like Ella Enchanted did.

I’d give it a 4. In fact, this world seemed instantly carso, after reading Ella Enchanted. I’ve never been so glad I didn’t have the audio book. This story had such an amazing theme of struggling against vanity and discovering inner beauty. Fairest makes for a fun little read, and would probably be enjoyed most by pre-teen girls.

Seeing the movie did at least allow me to notice and appreciate the references this book made to Ella Enchanted.
Spirited novel offers warts-and-all view of the Middle Ages. Her spirit is taken back to the enchanted mirror, where she discovers that Ivi’s actions have been manipulated by Skulni so that he can take a vacation when Gy is killed since then Ivi’s spirit would take Skulni’s place and her spirit would be trapped in the mirror until Skulni returns.

But, in this story: I was dissapointed we did not get to carsom his relationship with A Fairest is a nice and entertaining retelling of Snow White, and I would have enjoyed it a lot more had I not believed it would be as good as Ella Enchanted.

Moreover, Levine adds an ironic twist: I enjoyed many of the characters too, Prince Ijori probably being my favorite. Talk to your kids about Couldn’t Levine have come up with a more realistic antagonist than Overall, if you’re going to read this book, listen to it instead!!
Yet another wonderfully intriguing and refreshing story from Gail Carson Levine. This story includes many subtle lessons: Throughout the text we watch her begin to improve and respect herself, especially when Prince Ijori shows that he loves Aza despite her looks.
I liked Aza’s gift of illusing but I believed it could have been used in a much more interesting way than it was done.
Anyway, I recommend a dose of this book to any young girl obsessed with princesses and all that crap. But, she is kind and has a gift for song, making curious guests drawn to her, including a wise gnome and a duchess.
